Scotland - Fife to Edinburgh

The 61m high Scott Monument, inspired by the architecture of Melrose Abbey and Roslin Chapel, is the largest monument to a writer in the world. It commemorates the Edinburgh-born Sir Walter Scott and incorporates 64 statues of characters from his books. The foundation stone was laid in 1840.
